In this workshop, renowned child and adolescent psychiatrist Dr. Alan Brown will provide insight into current trends in mental health and mental illness among children and adolescents. He will also offer practical strategies for schools to work collaboratively through a pyramid of interventions, to provide more comprehensive support for students. It is essential for senior education leaders to understand the importance of mental health and well-being in the lives of students, as well as the impact that mental health issues can have on academic performance and overall quality of life. Bio: Dr. Alan Brown is a renowned child and adolescent psychiatrist, recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field of psychiatry. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Child, Adolescent, and Family Psychiatry at the prestigious Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital. With over 30 years of experience, he has a deep understanding of the needs and challenges facing young people and their families. Dr. Brown has played a key role in the development of innovative treatment programs, including the creation of a day treatment program in collaboration with the Halton Board of Education and the establishment of the current regional child and adolescent inpatient program. She is a published author, editor, and researcher.
